Cancer Support Community’s mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community. So that no one faces cancer alone. For over 27 years, Cancer Support Community (CSC) has been leading the charge in Indiana to create a vibrant community of cancer survivors and their loved ones.
CSC focuses on providing support to complement medical treatments in order to nurture every part of a patient as they learn, grow, and recover. This support makes up five pillars of programming which include individual and group support, education classes, wellness programs, social connections events, and information, assistance, and referral. These programs are always free of charge and available to anyone impacted by cancer – patients, caregivers, and family members alike.
Unlike many large national organizations, Cancer Support Community’s uniqueness is that all funding stays local, supporting our Indiana neighbors facing cancer. While CSC Indiana is our own 501c3, with full creativity in the programs and services we offer, we are part of a nationwide network of affiliates who support their own local communities, and we have the nonfiscal support of a headquarters organization and the RTI, Research & Training Institute. This allows our small team to have the strength of a large research team who is determining which offerings have the most impact on those we serve.
With over 195 programs held per month we offer a wider range of support through our offerings including individual and group counseling, our expansive education programs led by local oncology professionals, and the uniqueness of our services being provided at 14 locations across central Indiana and beyond.
With any cancer diagnosis come feelings of hopelessness and social isolation. It’s CSC’s goal to make sure cancer patients don’t have to go it alone.
